Novak Djokovic wins an epic challenge with Laslo Djere

Novak Djokovic has once again given the demonstration that it’s never over with him on the pitch.

The Serbian tennis player made yet another comeback of his career in the derby in the third round of the Us Open against Laslo Djere.Finding himself down by two sets in the match against his compatriot, the comeback of the next world number one was overbearing, a show of strength like a true champion, overturning the result and closing the match in 3 hours and 48 minutes with a score of 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-1 6-3.For the 23-time champion, this is the eighth time in his career in which he manages to come back two sets behind in a slam and there is no good news for his opponents, given that in six of these eight occasions he has lifted the trophy. The first comeback dates back to the second round of the 2005 Wimbledon edition, when the Serbian recovered the two sets behind against the Spanish Garcia-Lopez and prevailed 6-4 in the fifth. Then the comeback at the US Open 2011 in the semifinal against Roger Federer was historic, which allowed him to get the pass to the final against Rafa Nadal and to win his first American slam.Turnaround that also earned the final victory over Kevin Anderson in 2015 in the fourth round of Wimbledon, while three times the victims of Djokovic’s comebacks were Italian tennis players: Seppi at the Roland Garros in 2012; Musetti in the round of 16 of the 2021 Parisian slam, the year in which the 36-year-old Serbian also repeated himself in the final against Tsitsipas.More recently Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals of the British major 2022.

Last in chronological order is the victory over Djere in the third round of the Us Open, yet another proof of the Serbian champion’s ability to never give up.
