Feliciano Lopez believes Sinner is the only one who can stop Alcaraz and Djokovic

The last Grand Slam tournament, the US Open 2023, is coming to the halfway point, while the most important tournament for tennis teams, the Davis Cup, is just a few weeks away.Still in the running in New York, with the challenge in the third round against Stan Wawrinka, Jannik Sinner, the number one in Italy, as well as the first tennis player available to the captain of the Italian national team, Filippo Volandri, will juggle between New York and Davis cup.The new director of the Davis Cup Finals, Feliciano Lopez, who was present in New York to present the tournament, talked about the Italian tennis player and his goals in both appointments.

Following the ranking and beyond, Sinner should be the driver of the Italian team in the Davis Cup, which from 11 September will meet in Bologna to face the group with Canada, Chile and Sweden.For Feliciano Lopez, Filippo Volandri’s Italy is a candidate for the final victory, although there is a question mark on Matteo Berrettini, after the bad injury suffered in New York.He told: “Italy has a very strong team with Sinner, with Berrettini who we hope we can recover to see him play in Bologna, with Fabio Fognini, who was a great Davis player.
