Even After Massive Portland Failure, LPGA Prodigy Rose Zhang Keeps Her Head High for Defending Her Nation’s Pride

Rose Zhang is a very competitive golfer with a lot of untapped potential. The female Tiger Woods of the golfing cosmos is a rising star on the LPGA Tour. However, the pro golfer has run into a bit of hard luck in the past few weeks.

Even though Zhang made it to the Team USA roster for the Solheim Cup, her competitive streak has been on a dry spell. And just hours ago, she even faced some heavy failure. However, despite this, she did not allow her enthusiasm to falter!

This week, the 20-year-old LPGA star played at the Portland Classic. Her standing at the end of round 2 is T86, which offers bleak hope of her making the cut at the 144-player event at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon. She ended the round 12 strokes behind the leader and failed to make it to the weekend gameplay.

However, this setback did not discourage Zhang. Despite missing the cut in her current event, she shared the LPGA Tour’s post about the near-perfect shot she had at the Portland Classic with her fans on her Instagram story. She captioned the short reel, “Rough couple days, looking forward to putting in some work for next week.” The rising star of the LPGA Tour is busy looking forward to her future accomplishments rather than beating herself up about her recent failure to make the cut.

Zhang did have a rough time at Portland, finishing in T122 after round 1 and still not being able to make the cut after round 2, but her confidence in her game is motivating. She shared her enthusiasm for the coming weeks, which will include her patriotic dream of being in Spain for the Solheim Cup. She has proven her professional nature yet again. The LPGA star seems to have put aside her competitiveness to prepare for her nation’s pride.

Zhang is competing in Team USA alongside many top golfers from the Rolex ranks, including world no. 1 Lilia Vu and LPGA cover girl Nelly Korda. She is excited to battle Team Europe for the prestigious Solheim Cup title for her nation, and she remains dedicated to her craft despite the disappointing finish in Portland.
