Darlington Cook Out Southern 500: NASCAR Average Running Position Rankings

The Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway was run this past Sunday evening and it was Kyle Larson who finally got a Cup Series win at one of his best race tracks and locked himself into the Round of 12 for the Playoffs while doing so.

Larson had the second-best Average Running Position (4.47) during the race, with the top spot in that statistic going to Tyler Reddick, who finished in second-place while having an ARP of 2.60. A couple of notables were Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin, who ranked fourth- and fifth-best in Average Running Position but each had issues late that relegated them to poor results.

Four of the top-five finishers in this year’s Cook Out Southern 500 ranked inside the top seven when it came to Average Running Position. The exception was Ross Chastain, who wound up with a fifth-place finish despite ranking 19th-best in ARP at 18.30.
