Brad Keselowski Puts NASCAR on High Alert After Assertive Claims Heading Into the Playoffs

Is the sudden Ford resurgence a thing now in NASCAR? Safe to say, the entire year has been a tug-o-war between the Chevrolets and the Toyotas. But it seems like Brad Keselowski and his team have set out to change the entire narrative. With another dominant boss-driver performance, RFK Racing is basking in the spotlight.

Brad Keselowski is full of words for the driver of his #17 Mustang. Since Richmond, Keselowski seems to have unsheathed his sharpest weapon in the garage and he is not putting it back in. Needless to say, this is posing severe threats to every NASCAR Cup Series team and driver out there. And in the post-race presser, Brad Keselowski sent out a subtle warning to everyone on the grid.

Chris Buescher won three of the last 5 races in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. A proud moment for Brad Keselowski indeed. He admitted having set their target to come up to 5th in the points standings rather than 11th or 12th. With the high stakes that each seasonal race posits, just one mistake results in the loss of a whopping 30 or more points. Hence, every move is crucial at this point.

Keselowski admitted, “That’s going to bode well for us in the playoffs, I’m sure. Every year you see somebody knocked out by one or two points and that’s great defence for us.”

Keselowski has three wins in 23 starts with a 16.8 average finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. And in eight of those races he holds top-10s, six of which were top-5s. Back in 2020, he had started the Spring race from the pole and came first as well. Going further back, he also won back-to-back races in the 2011 fall event and the 2012 spring race.

There is more; Keselowski also made 14 Xfinity starts at Bristol with eight top 10s and a win. So Bristol kind of seems like Brad’s lucky charm.

With the seasonal races of 2023 getting over, RFK Racing looks forward to Darlington, Kansas, and Bristol, Darlington being one of his favorite tracks. He said, “We’ve really ran well and coming off with two really strong races… and then Bristol being a race we won out and had dominant cars with last fall.”

“There’s a lot of energy for us and a lot of great racing to look forward to,” he added.

“The second is the first loser,” said the RFK team owner

Every time Chris Buescher comes first and Brad tags a couple of spots behind, the latter finds himself in an awkward position. And this is not new. The results of the race at Michigan were something similar when Buescher had won and Brad had come fourth. It is like Brad the driver versus Brad the owner. He is happy for his employee, but isn’t it disappointing to finish second?

Brad Keselowski said, The second is the first loser but could have ended up in a ball of flames in three and four too and that would look pretty dumb.”

There were a lot of strong contenders running on the madhouse called Daytona, and Brad just felt lucky to be able to utilize the push he got from Aric Almirola and carry it over to his teammate, in order to clear him.

He exclaimed, “There were a lot of cars just breathing down their back and (it) would have been really difficult to pull a move off without probably wrecking both of us. Happy for Chris, we still achieved one of our big results.”
